The Tsinandali Choir carry on the traditions of ?the Georgian cult of wine?.
The cult is not a cult in the traditional sense but the ceremony of drinking wine and making toasts on special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, public holidays?etc.
The villagers in remote places such as the Kakhetia region (where the town of Tsinandali is situated) gather for banquets, which involve copious amounts of drinking and singing.
The choir keeps some of these traditional drinking songs alive today.
